Sending to distribution list in Outlook generates dummy message

Sending our weekly email newsletter to contacts on an Outlook distribution
list generates a separate blank message to everyone on the list. We are
using McAfee Security Center but have the outgoing email virus checker turned
off. Has anyone else experienced this problem and found a solution?
