Sending webpage as email BODY

O

I want to send the source code of a webpage, with absolute links to all
resources on a webserver, via email. I don't want to send an HTML attachment.
I don't want to use Outlook to create a message with HTML formatting and send
that. I have a page made already, I simply want to send that page and not its
resources as the body of the email. Is this even possible with Outlook
2003? I would happily cut and paste the source code from my webpage to the
email if I saw a way to do so, but I cannot find it.

I have scoured the web as best I can, and yes, I even read the "How to send
newsletter as HTML email" thread here. Any thoughts are welcome!

If you want to email a web page to a few people, you can use
www.jkn.com which is a web-based "web page emailer". And if you find
that you often want to email web pages, you can install a toolbar (for
IE or FireFox) to make it even more convienant.

If you want to email a web page (newsletter) to many opt-in
subscribers, check out www.Deliverent.com

This looks like a great tool, Jack. However, there are several reasons why
this wouldn't work in my case -- all revolving around the fact that I am
trying to send internal emails within a company. Having this service track
opt-ins, jkn.com in the "From" field, and other such obstacles are an issue.

Again, this looks like a wonderful tool that anyone else reading this thread
should really check out.

Christian -

If only it were that easy! Your post was certainly helpful though, as I
never would have suspected that inserting an HTML file as text would actually
render as HTML and not text (especially when pasting HTML into a plain-text
email and converting it to HTML-formatting doesn't produce the desired
effect!).

Still, with your approach these things just aren't working for me:
- links (all have "outbound://#/" in the HREF)
- css (even when pasted into the HEAD and not linked or imported)
- js (but that's no big surprise, really)
- swf (no Flash content renders or even spaces properly after sending)
- frames (I even tried to call my goal webpage in a frame through the email
-- that's how desperate I am!)

I have received plenty of email newsletters through Outlook 2003 that at
least have the links and css working right, so I know it's possible. I'm
beginning to suspect that sending such heavily formatted emails may be beyond
Outlook 2003. There does not appear to be any way to edit the source code of
an email before sending it. Anyone care to prove me wrong? I'd sure
appreciate it!

Sam:

Another suggestion is that you can use the FireFox "Amazing Webpage
Emailer" extension to convert the web page. (Also available at
www.jkn.com)

Click Send like you would normally do, but then instead of sending it
for real, click the right-mouse button on the frame with the web page
in it and select "This Frame | View Frame Source" from the right-click
menu.

Then copy & paste the text into Outlook (you can use Christian's
approach.)

The text that you copied should have been properly converted for you
with fully qualified links for images and flash.

The only reason why I am recommending that you use the FireFox "Amazing
Webpage Emailer" extension instead of the web-based "web page emailer"
is because you are behind a firefall and the FireFox extension has a
better chance of working under those conditions.

Good luck and let me know how it works out.
