Sent and Received Dates in Entourage 2008

The "Sent" date in Entourage appears to be the system time on the sender's
computer, right or wrong. The "Received" date in Entourage is the date and
time that Entourage retrieves the mail from the POP server. Neither date is
desirable for sorting mail in the inbox. Outlook uses the date that the email
was received by the email server. I can't seem to figure out how to get
Entourage to do that. Any ideas? Thanks!

You've identified the only two methods that Entourage has for dating
mail. Entourage can not use dates from the server. You'll need to select
one of the two types of dates. I suggest using Sent. It's always more
reliable that Received.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the reply, Bill!

We use the "Sent" date because it is the lesser of two evils, but sometimes
he sender's system clock is off by hours! If the receiver gets a lot of
email, the sender's email message can end up out of view. It can easily be
missed. Maybe we will have to switch to Mail!

Thanks,again!

Consider switching your account to IMAP if your provider offers that
service. I believe Received dates are then calculated based on when the
message hit the server.
