"SENT BOX" View, hides recent messages

Version: 2004
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel
Email Client: pop

Of late my sent box hides messages in the 'Received' view. If I switch views to say 'Subject' the email is visible, but when I return to ordering by date (Received) it is not. Selecting 'Groups' makes no difference. This happens on all 3 of my POP accounts. I have NO rules in place, no mail list managers running, and have rebuilt the database. Under view no selections are checked. Same result.
When in the 'Received' order since the rebuild the latest emails show under a grouping of 'Yesterday' with no current mail at all visible. To find todays sent email I have to change the view and it will show up under its appropriate subject or addressee.
Any suggestions, this has me baffled!

Just think about what you asked. "Sent" mail was never received so it's mute
to select that option.

Sort by "Sent."

Dear Diane
Good grief at first I thought you were being really presumptuous! But in fact there is a 'sent' sort which I have clearly looked at dozens of times and never seen! Please forgive me, my sister accuses most me of having 'shelf blindness' - you know where your husband can't find his favorite socks on the shelf despite the fact that they are sitting right there, on the shelf! I think I suffer from a like version.
Thank you
