I have a domain name and receive incoming e-mail through the server of the domain name provider. However, I have to use an account name and password from my local ISP to send e-mail through the SMTP server. When friends receive an e-mail, they see my main e-mail address in the "from" line, but in parenthesis they see "Sent by" and my local ISP e-mail address. Is there a way to eliminate the additional "Sent by" address. I'm concerned it will confuse someone.

The "Sent by" is probably being appended by your ISP.

You don't necessarily have to use your ISP's SMTP server to send mail.
If you're receiving POP mail through your domain address then you should
also be able to send mail through its own SMTP server.

Hope this helps!

You can set a reply-to address that is different from the sent-by adding to
the header.
