Aloha,

I installed Entourage 2008 on 2 MACs: this one is running 10.4.11, and the other one is running 10.5.6.

The problem is the same on both computers: ALL Sent Mail and Deleted Mail has the same date--9/22/06

Are you displaying "Sent" or "Received"? Entourage records "Received" as the
date and time it sees the message (not when your server received it), but
"Sent" should show the correct time the message was sent.

This is my first day on the MacTopia forums, so I might be doing this
incorrectly.

Welcome to the Entourage newsgroup! It's always best to ask your own
question separately rather than tag onto another thread. Even slight
differences is your setup can make a different. Also it makes a thread more
confusing we are tying to help two or more different people. For users
searching for answers, it makes it harder to follow. You did the right thing
in starting your own thread.

One more bit of info. This is not a true forum. It's an interface to the
NNTP server for the Entourage newsgroup. It's much easier to use the
Entourage newsreader to ask questions and reply plus you can download old
messages and search for answers. This is not an official Microsoft support
site. It's peer-to-peer discussions.

This link explains how to subscribe using the Entourage newsreader:

I don't think using two different operating systems is causing the problem,
but if you had both on the same OS, I would do that.

This is not a usual report so we'll have to do some troubleshooting, but I
want you to try these steps first. If both of these fail, then we will need
to do some troubleshooting. Download the combo updaters for both your Oses
and run them.

Re-install Office.

Follow these steps to reinstall:

* Launch the Microsoft Autoupdater (MAU).To launch MAU, you can open any
Office application and select "Check for Updates" under Help in the Menu
bar. Once MAU is launched, select "Keep in Dock"
* Quit all Microsoft applications (Easy way: log out/in with Shift key down
to disable any startup items.) Be sure all applications are quit before
running updater. IMPORTANT
* Drag the Microsoft Office 2008 folder to the Trash.
* Empty Trash.
* Reinstall Office 2008 from your original installation disk.
* Restart
* Update to 12.1.0 (if you have a newer DVD you might only need the 12.1.5)
* Restart (restarting before you launch any app is important!)
* Update to 12.1.5
* Restart

Note: the AutoUpdater was replaced in the first updater so that should
already be updated. If you used "Remove Office" you would need to download
and install the Microsoft Auto Updater (MAU) for a complete re-install.

The Office 2008 MAU is now hidden away.

TROUBLESHOOT:

My first thought is the PRAM battery needs resetting, but that wouldn't
happen on two computers are the same time.

1) Go to System Preferences --> Create a New User in Accounts. Switch to the
New User by logging out/in or use Fast User Switching.

2) Open Entourage and enter one of your accounts for this test. Set to
"leave on server" under the Options tab.

3) Do you see the same problem with dates in the new User in a new Identity?

How many accounts do you have? Are they all POP? How do you manage a
singular account that's downloaded to both computers?

Have you tried setting up as IMAP? This is the best option when you are
using two computers to access the same account.

Read these articles on setting date to be sure your System Preferences for
date & time is set correctly for Entourage.

Aloha Diane,

I just got off the phone with Apple. Dates on Hard Drive Apps, desktop folders, and e-mail all show the same date (2/6/09) on 2 MACs, so it has been determined that this is an MS OFFICE issue for sure.

If I uninstall Office, I will lose TONS of data, in particular my E-mail (needed for our business).

Any other suggestions?

Mahalo!

Removal and re-install does not remove your data. You can backup your
Microsoft User Data folder as added insurance, but "Remove Office" does not
remove this folder.

In addition the "Remove Office" for Office 2008 does not remove the packages
or Automator actions. I would manually remove those to get the best results.

Starting with Office 2008, Microsoft changed from a VISE installer to a
package installer. A package installer will add a receipt to your
Library/Receipts folder. When you run the updater if the old packages are
still there it might give you an error there is nothing to update.

See this article for full details:

Are receipts causing your update to fail? (The Entourage Help Blog)

Let us know if the reinstall fixes the date issue.

I just got off the phone with Apple. Dates on Hard Drive Apps,

Not sure if I'm understanding this correctly.

Dates on your applications, desktop folders and E-mail are all showing
2/6/09 and Apple says this is a Microsoft Office problem? That doesn't
make sense at all. Office isn't going to go willy-nilly changing dates
on your folders and applications.

Let's check your date settings on your computer in two places:

First, quit Entourage.

1. Check under Apple menu --> System Preferences... --> Date & Time.

Under the Date & Time tab is "Set date & time automatically" enabled? If
not then I suggest enabling it just to keep your clock on time.

In this same area, is the date correctly shown above the calendar?

2. Check under Apple menu --> System Preferences... --> International
--> Formats tab.

Does your Region say "Custom" in the drop-down menu? If it does then I
suggest resetting your region to your current region. If necessary,
select the "Show all regions" option to display more countries.

Launch Entourage and see if the problem remains. Be sure you are looking
at dates Sent and not dates Received.

Hope this helps!
