Sent emails don't appear in Outbox OR Sent Items folder

A user running MS Outlook 2000 is having an intermittant
problem with emails that are sending (and being received)
OK, but do not appear (even briefly) in the Outbox OR in
Sent Items, but she has it set by default to save sent
items.
