sent emails don't arrive

Using Outlook 2002, and XP +SP2 + all updates

For some little time I have had a problem where I despatch an email which appears in the sent folder and everything seems ok but the message is not received by contact.

This has happened with a number of different contacts so is not confined to any single individual, any ideas?

Secondly and whether it is interconnected I am not sure, I have six email addresses which I use to identify incoming mail, I have just noticed that although I have a default email address for outgoing emails, some messages have gone out with another of my email addresses on and not the default. This has been brought to my attention by recipients.

This made me investigate further and I see that some incoming messages are several days late when received, contacted ISP who says they cannot see any problems or reasons why, again any ideas?

Any help appreciated

Thanks
Tony

If your email shows in the Sent Items folder in Outlook, the message has
been sent successfully. Something might have gone wrong afterwards. This
could be on your side because of something that takes place after Outlook
has finished the transmission (like a virus scanner integration), could be
at your ISP side, ISP side of the receiver or the on the side of the
receiver itself.

The default account only applies to creating new emails. Forwarding and
replying is always done by the account that you received the message with.
You can overrule this on a per items basis though.

As for your last receiving issue; see if the message has arrived at your ISP
already by looking at your web based mailbox. If it is there already for
days and not in Outlook then it is an configuration issue at your side. If
not, the issue is somewhere between the sender and your ISP.

Thanks Robert

How do I control which account new emails are sent from, as they seem to go out from any of the accounts at present?

Thanks
Tony

You can use the Account button near the Send button to select the account
you want to send it with.
