Sent items appear as code with iPhone

Harry Astourian

Hello,

I purchased a new macbook, an iPhone and office mac. I have set up my
exchange account with entourage, my contacts and calendar sync up fine. Im
having a problem with my sent items.

When I send an email, be it a new email, a reply or a forward from my
iPhone, in entourage sent items folder those emails appear as code. If I
send an email from entourage, it will show up fine on my iPhone.

Here's a link to an image that shows a sent item from my iPhone

Thanks

Hi Harry!

That's a known issue with ActiveSync on Exchange Server 2003. I've been
told by a MacBU developer this should not be occurring on Exchange
Server 2007. If you know your server is Exchange Server 2007 then I
would appreciate hearing back.

Thanks!

Bill,

The problem seems to be in Entourage. My Outlook (2003) and webmail see the sent mail correctly. Only Entourage has a problem viewing it.

I am sure I am going to tell my IT guys, update to Exchange 2007 so I can view my sent items from my iPhone and other ActiveSync devices correctly. They will just tell me to use Outlook.

Entourage needs to be fixed to understand Activesync correctly.

We are running exchange server 2003. Is there a fix for this?

I think the "fix" is upgrading to Exchange Server 2007. :-(

Entourage is the only application I've seen affected and I doubt
Microsoft will be releasing any further bug fixes for a product that's
currently superseded by a newer release.

Hi Stuart!

I understand your confusion but from what I understand Entourage is the
only application affected by this bug. My best guess as to "why" is that
Entourage is really the only E-mail client that connects to Exchange via
the WebDAV protocol. Outlook uses MAPI and other mail applications would
probably use POP or IMAP to connect.

Outlook Web Access (OWA) also connects to your Exchange account via
WebDAV and you should notice that messages sent via ActiveSync don't
appear there as well. (I'm seeing this in OWA light. I haven't checked
OWA via IE for Windows.)

Hope this helps!
