Sent messages not actually being sent

I have a customer who has a strange problem with MS Outlook 2002 (XP). He
has a POP3 Account from their Companies Web Hosting Account (Hosted by
Network Solutions), Periodically his email appears to be sent (Goes from
Outbox to Sent Mail) in MS Outlook, but is never received by his intended
recipients, and NO Error messages show up. He can do a Test Send from the
Configuration part of MS Outlook and that will work. He can do a Pure WEB
based POP3 Email and that works. I've uninstalled and then reinstalled
(rebooted in-between) MS Outlook XP (2002), and then applied all updates, but
that does not clear things up. Other Computers and Users on the same LAN
have no issue sending email. Since I put his PST files on the Server, and
reference them via a users shared drive, I have configured a Terminal Server
Session for his ID to also use that same PST File… From the terminal Server
His ID works Correctly… So, I'm thinking there must be some issue with his
desktop. I've done a recent AV Scan (Symantec 10.x) & SpyWare Scans (SpyBot
S&D and Ad-Aware), Check his LSPs and nothing looks fishy!.

Ever find a fix? I have the same exact problem, well almost exact. My
customers PST is on their local machine. But still cannot send, or at least
no recipients are recieving.

After playing around with activating the Logging feature, i reviewed the log
and decided it was probably something to do with Symantec AV Client.
Disabling the Scanning of EMail allows the email t o be sent. I'm currently
online about to research at Symantec what their solution is to resolving the
issue. So I've isolated the real underlying problem to be with the AV
Scanning of outbound Emails.

After noticing that email scanners are usually the suspect of such issues.
And there was no email scanner installed. Not even any anti-virus protection
actually. So, for a temp fix I installed AVG free and disabled the built in
email scanner. But I still have the same issue. Mail shows as being sent,
(moved from outbox to sent). but no mail ever arrives to the recipent. Help,
please... anybody.

I am using Outlook 2003 and Vista and have a similar problem: the first
e-mail of the day will not go out of the outbox, cannot be viewed, and it is
not in the sent folder because "in process of sending". But the subsequent
message go out normally. I think the problem is with Vista because it was
working fine until the automatic update around June 9th. I have turned off
Norton scanning of sending messages.

This has been going on for several weeks. I was following a thread in the
Vista Communities that describes the same problem with Vista Mail. I had
hoped that between the 2 vendors that there would have been a fix by now. Can
anyone help?

Fixed?
So here's what I managed to get working as a work around. First I created a
new profile, then selected the new profile as the default. Deleted the old
profile and voila, everything seems to work. If I try to reply to a message
that was sent prior to the new profile the message goes to the sent folder
but is never recieved. But I can create new messages and any new messages
that arrive I can succesfully reply to. Hope this helps...
