Sent to Onenote tag in outlook?

A

Ajay Malkani

I use the send to onenote option a lot while working with my emails. That
way I save all the stuff at one place.

The problem i'm facing is that over a period of time when I go back to my
inbox, I cant tell if the mail is saved to onenote already.. Sometimes i end
up hitting the send to onenote 2/3 times just cos i dont rememberif ive
saved the mail already.

Anyway an email can get tagged once its been sent to onenote? So i can tell
at a glance which messages I have saved already in onenote.

Thanks,
Ajay

I suggest you use the Followup Flag feature of Outlook. For emails that you
want to put in OneNote, you can flag them for follow up or if you already
add it, you can mark it as "completed".

This would be a manual thing but you can easily just tap that follow-up flag
(twice to "complete" it) in order to keep a note of its status.

Personally though, I would only put emails in OneNote that contain important
stuff like account numbers, or that are related to a project you're
documenting in OneNote, or if you need to annotate it. It doesn't make much
sense to put most or all of your emails in OneNote just for the sake of
having them there. Outlook is far better at organizing and sorting such
data.

This would certainly work but it has the side effect of preventing you
from using the flag for something else. I have what I call an
"Unprocessed" category. Its hooked to the Ctrl-F2 shortcut key which
makes it easy to add and remove. I have a rule that adds this
category to all incoming mail. After sending it to OneNote, I hit
Ctrl-F2 to remove it.
