Sequence of Tasks in TASKS tab on PWA

F

FMCyb

I've created a project plan (say with following tasks), assigned a resource
to all three tasks & published it.

Task A1
Task A2
Task A3

After publising the plan if I go to TASKS view in PWA, the tasks are not
displayed in sequence. The tasks are displayed like this:

Task A1
Task A3
Task A2

There is no constraint / predescssors in above tasks.

Q1. Why the tasks shown in PWA are not in sequence as in Project Plan?
Q2. Is there a way that we can set / force PWA to display tasks in sequence
as shown in our Project plan?

By default, Project Server displays tasks sorted in ascending order by the
Start date column on the View My Tasks page. This is indicated by a gray
up-arrow indicator on the Start date column header. By chance, has sorting
been applied to another column on your View My Tasks page? (You can apply
sorting in ascending or descending order on any column by clicking the
column header until the gray arrow indicator appears. Let us know.

Dale,

Yes you were right. Clicking on Task Name field sorted the summary tasks
correctly. But tasks within summary tasks were still not in order (as they
appeared in Project Professional)

I resolved that issue by going to Admin > Manage View. I modified the
TimeSheet view & added a 'ID' field into it.

Now in Tasks tab, if I click on ID column, I can see the tasks sorted out
exactly the way they are in Project Professional.

Thanks for your help.

I have this same problem and was actually going to resolve it this same way,
by added the ID and sorting. However, it appears that Server 2007 does not
have the option to add ID as a field in the my assignments view. Any
suggestions?

As you may have noted, the user who asked the original question is using
Project Server 2003. Have you tried adding the Task ID [Assignment] field
to the My Assignments view? This field is now an available field from which
to choose, no doubt as a result of one of the Cumulative Upates. Hope this
helps.

The Task ID [Assignment] field is most definitely available for inclusion in
the My Assignments view! I am looking at it right now. The Task ID field
became an available field in one of the Service Packs or Cumulative Updates,
but I don't remember exactly which one it was. If you are not running
Project Server 2007 with the latest Service Packs and Cumulative Updates, I
would strongly recommend you apply these with all due haste! :) Then you
can include the Task ID field in your My Assignments view. Hope this helps.
