Serious Exchange Issues with SP2

B

Ben Skelton

I installed Office: Mac 2004 Service Pack 2 when it came out and didn't
seem to have any problems for a little while. I use Entourage for
connectivity with our Exchange server for both the calendar, email and
tasks and was looking forward to the additional Exchange integration.

About 3 days ago my whole calendar disappeared in both Entourage and on
the Exchange server.

Today I noticed that a few folders have also been deleted from my
inbox. In fact Entourage seems to slowly be killing all my files and
folders from the Exchange Server. It seemed to delete the folders that
I had last copied items two / from yesterday.

I am using a Powerbook G4 with OS 10.4.2. It has 1GB of RAM and I
connect to our work network using the LAN or through Wi-Fi and I also
connect to our corporate network at home using VPN.

My gut instinct is that there is a syncing issue with Entourage and
that moving my PowerBook between work and home seems to be messing up
the syncing... It seems when Entourage can't sync it just decides to
kill the folder / calendar / whatever.

My Exchange admin isn't too pleased as I am requesting that she rebuild
my mailbox from the last backup, which requires her to build a server
for this purpose. Please help!!

BTW - I have been on the phone for the last 30 minutes being
transferred around Microsoft like a ping-pong ball. Phone support is
pretty much useless...

Ben,

I'm an Exchange admin and have run into issues with the problem you
mention. I have been able to avoid doing restores with a utility called
Outlook Spy --available at http://www.dimastr.com/outspy/. It is
inexpensive and can recover 'soft deletes'.

Good Luck!
