Server Administration

Can you tell me what I can or can not accomplish via PWA? We have recently
installed Project Server 2007 and I am to be the PS Administrator. However,
the System Admin group everyone to PWA. Are there not capabilities in
managing Project Server that are only available on the server side?

I don't understand your sentence, "However, the System Admin group everyone
to PWA." Are you missing a word in that sentence? Regardless, most of the
administrator activities in Project Server 2007 are only available in
Project Web Access. Some activities use both PWA and Project Professional
2007, such as creating or editing enterprise Calendars. A few activities
take place only in Project Professional 2007, such as creating custom
enterprise Views, Tables, Filters, Groups, etc. Let us know if this helps.

Yelp - missing word or two there... funny.

I had intended to say the Sys Admin group had locked the Server access for
themselves (ability to log directly into the server).

I have both, PWA and Proj Pro. When our engineer was here and we were
setting up the server he had mentioned that I would need to maintain direct
access to the server and I took this to mean there may be options /
capabilities that were only available by working directly in the server
rather than through the PWA front end.

So the question short question would be, as the project server administrator
(responsible for the look, feel, report capabilities, and content) - do I
have all the functionality and capabilities I need by simply using PWA and
Proj Pro?

I believe you should be able to handle almost every aspect of the
administration of Project Server 2007 using Project Web Access and Project
Professional 2007. You can rely on your network administrators to handle
some of the technical details, such as the occasional need to restart the
Microsoft Office Project Server Queueing Service, which requires direct
access to the server on which Project Server 2007 is installed. In other
words, you should be fine, my friend! Hope this helps.
