Server error...

Running winXP and FrontPage 2000

I've copied all my personal web files from my old win98 PC onto my new
laptop, now when I try to publish my website I get the following error:

Server Error: Error 2 opening registry key 'SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared
Tools\Web Server Extensions\Ports\Port 80'

Another website I maintain (on my laptop) runs perfectly fine.

Any advice and help in solving the problem would be much appreciated.

Was the FPSE installed on the website? Use IIS to apply.

You need to publish, not copy the site between machines or you need to open the live/remote site
directly in FP on the new machine and publish down the site to the new machine.

but......its a bit too technical for me to follow. Any chance you could
explain how to do it please

Does the live/remote server have the FP extensions installed? If so then open the site in FP via
File Menu | Open Web / Site via http://www.domainname.com then use File Menu | publish Web/ Site
command back to your local PC.
