We have a FrontPage 2002 user who used to be able to
access the development web server in FrontPage 2002. When
he tries to access a web folder in FrontPge 2002 he
receives this error message: The
folder "\\server\wwroot\*.*' isn't accessible. The folder
may be located in an unavailable location, protected with
a password, or the filename contains a / or \. He then
tries to go out through Windows Explorer to access the web
folder and receives this error when clicking on it:
\\server\wwwroot is not accessible. Access is denied.
Both the Network Admin and I believed it to be an access
issue. We had our Security department add him to a more
liberal NT Group but he still receives the same error
messages. We think that his membership in a specific NT
Group is causing this problem. However, our Security
department says his access is fine.
When the user logs onto my PC and uses FrontPage 2002, he
receives the same errors in FrontPage. So it can not be a
corrupt installation. The user even had a tech re-install
FrontPage 2002 on his PC just to make sure. This user is
able to access the web folder using FrontPage 98 and
receives no error messages. How is it that he has no
problems using FrontPage 98? Is it somehow tied in to
where the FrontPage server extensions are pointing? I
have researched MSDN and Google and I can not find what
the cause could be. If it were a FrontPage server
extension problem, then wouldn't more users have the same
issues? He is the only one with the problem. The
FrontPage server extension version on the web server is
5.02.3214 and it is on IIS 4.0
Does anyone know the solution to this problem?
Thanks for your help.
