Server "" Timeout AFTER Publishing

T

The Merg

I have Win 2000 Pro and am trying to publish my FP2002 site to my webhost. I have recently switched to a new webhost and have not had any luck publishing now. When I try to publish my web (which is quite small), it goes through and says it is publishing each page. It gets to the end where it says that it is processing updates and then the Server "" Timeout message appears. If I look at my website, it seems to have published except for some odd quirks. Any banners or buttons I created in FP for menus titles do not display their text and the Link Exchange banners I have on the site do not work. Does anyone have any idea about this?

I have deleted/reinstalled the extensions, deleted the site and reinstalled the extensions, deleted the site and deleted/reinstalled the extensions, and have deleted the .web cache files from the Application Data directory--all to no avail. Help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
The Merg

You can not use animated .gifs for the theme banner images in your custom theme - as in:

Stefan,

Thank you for responding. This isn't any different than I've been using for
the past three years though. I've used that same theme the entire time --
and it's a theme that comes with MS FrontPage that I told to use "Active
Graphics". I just modified the font and colors slightly. Why would this stop
working all of a sudden?

Thanks again,

You appear to have also modified the theme banner image to an animated .gif - unsupported

Well at some point someone modified the theme banner image (astrbane.gif) from a plain .gif with just a solid color of
Hex={CC,CC,99}, to an animated .gif, or it has become corrupt

| Believe me, I didn't modify any of the graphics of the theme. This is the
| "Straight Edge" theme in FP with Active Graphics checked off. You can see
| the graphics work on my old site at http://themerg.bizland.com. I just

I'm sorry to keep banging on a nail that is already in, but that graphic
comes as an animated gif from Microsoft. Take a look at the Straight Edge
theme with Active Graphics turned on. You'll see that the Page Banner
graphic does that animation of the lines at the top and bottom. This theme
(and graphic worked for three years of publishing with FrontPage). Like I
said, I did get my site to publish, by turning off Active Graphics (and thus
not using animated graphics). I definitely appreciate your help there.

You are correct that it (astrbane.gif ) is animated
- but it should not be
(unsupported since the nav text from overlay is combined with it and a new image is generated in the _derived folder)
Open it in an image editor and save it as say astrban.gif, them import it into your images folder and modify your theme to use the
new nonanimated image

PS
The active graphics just selects whether your buttons have 3 states or 2 states and allows you to have an alternate set of images
for the theme
For the default Straight Edge Theme
The Active Graphics banner image is - solid single color
The Normal Graphics banner image is - solid two colors

| I'm sorry to keep banging on a nail that is already in, but that graphic
| comes as an animated gif from Microsoft. Take a look at the Straight Edge
| theme with Active Graphics turned on. You'll see that the Page Banner
