service.lck error

I asked a hosting provider to install FP extensions so that I can use FP2000
with an existing account. This is my first time with this provider - he
wasn't thrilled but did it. I am still unable to either publish files or
edit existing files on the server with FP. In both situations, the
userid/password is not accepted, returning me to the password access window.
When I try to edit the files online, after several tries at the password, I
get the following error message: "Server error: The server extensions were
unable to access the file "service.lck". Please check the file permissions."

Hosting support swears the extensions are properly installed and that I'm
using the correct userid/password. We already went thru the case-specific
discussion and they agree I'm using the proper case for the entries. Any
suggestions, perhaps that I could pass along to server techs? Switching
hosts is dearly preferred but not an option in this situation, due to
previous commitments by my client. Thanks for your help.

Have them delete the service.lck file. A new will will be created
automatically. Or, have them check the permissions on that file.
