Service pack office 2000

First post didn't take-try again. I just wiped my hard disk (on purpose) and
am trying to reinsall all. I am using office 2000 with w2000. I reloaded
Office 2000 and am trying to get the service packs installed. Sp3 gives me a
message something to the effect that it doesn't see what it expects to. I
try to load pack 1 (sr-1a). Trying to open from explorer is a dud, just does
nothing. When I download the exe file and try to open it, the system demands
the original windows 2000 disk. Of course, I don't have that as it is buried
somewhere in the recovery disk. HELP!

SP3 of what? Office 2000 or Windows 2000? What is the exact error
message? Also have you looked in the temp folder for logs?

If this is a Windows 2000 message I'd suggest asking in the Windows
newsgroups.

I was just installing A2K on a new machine last week and was running
Windows/Office Update to patch it, and it repeatedly failed to load
Office 2000 SP3. But I wasn't downloading the patch file, just
running the automatic update. The error I was getting vaguely
suggested something about not having the Office install disk
accessible (and I didn't have it in the CD tray).

Thanks-hate to admit it, but I did confuse w2000 and office 2000 during the
reload process.

Ah, ok. I've done similar foolishness too. Thanks for posting back.
