After getting a new computer I installed my Office 2000.
When I installed SP1a from the Office Update site
something seems to have become corrupted. Office update
can no longer detect what updates I need. If I try and
install SP1a again it tells me it is already installed.
SP3 tells me it cannot install the patch. If I try to
uninstall using add/remove programs it tells me the patch
is corrupt. If I try to run SETUP from the Office 2000 CD
it tells me I have a corrupt patch ( so I cannot uninstall
or repair). The Office programs seem to start and run OK,
except that trying to launch an EXCEL file results in the
installer trying to run and failing (although I can launch
EXCEL and then open the file as if nothing were wrong).
Is there a way to delete the corrupted installer files and
start over with a clean install ?
Many thanks
