I recently re-installed Windows XP on my desktop using the Windows with XP
SP2 CD. The result is that ACCESS won't open, instead displays "Preparing to
install" for a second or so and then closes. If I try to re-install Office I
get "Uninstallation of this patch package is not supported". If I try to
uninstall office thru Add/Remove, nothing happens. What should I do to remove
office and then re-install it?

This may be caused by a corrupted Windows Installer.

Go to Microsoft Downloads, download the Windows Installer v3.1v2 package,
install it, and then try an Office repair installation.
