Set all newly typed text to appear in color

I've created an interview template with a number of questions followed by blank spaces for answers. I'd like to type the answers in colored text, to make them stand out from the black questions. To do this, I have to reset the color each time I start a new entry below a section of black text. Is there any way to program Word so that each new thing I type throughout the document is in the color I've selected, regardless of what color text it follows, without affecting the black questions?

Not really--it's not like you can do the equivalent of picking up a
different colored pen (unless you use the track changes feature, but
that does a lot more than just color and does not sound appropriate for
this case).

In this situation, since you have already inserted empty paragraphs for
the answers (I assume), you can preformat the empty paragraphs in color,
and when you type into them, they will keep the color. It will be easier
to see what you are doing if you hit ¶ so you can see the empty
paragraph marks.

Couldn't this be done using "Track Changes"?

It could, but the color change would go away when the changes were
accepted. if the changes weren't accepted, things like copy and paste,
etc, would behave strangely. I think Track Changes would be overkill and
introduce more complications--I wouldn't recommend it for someone who
doesn't already have a good understanding of how track changes works.

In addition to what others have said, you could set an "answers"
style, which would apply to the paragraphs after the question.
