New Dell? Uninstall the Outlookaddinsetup from Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs. It may be listed under Cyberlink.

there is no setting that defaults to making recurring appointments. There is
an addin installed on Dell's that will turn all appointments into recurring
appointments.

Do you have any addins installed? Are you using a custom form?

IF you click recurrence. then yes the default is one a week. If you
don't want recurring appointment don't click recurrence and don't make
it recurring. You don't "need" recurrence if there is only one instance.
