I downloaded the weekly calendar template for OneNote and can’t figure out 1,
if there is an easy way to change the date ( everything says April ) and 2.
How do I generate the view to cover one year a week at a time???

There's no easy way to do either thing you're asking about. The stationery
file is just a collection of lines and boxes and static text containers.
You have to manually change the dates in each of the boxes. There's no way
to change the view either (short of making another blank template file
consisting of a monthly calendar's worth of empty boxes and up to 31 static
text containers. There is no database or dynamic data feeding that
template, and none that can be used in any OneNote file.

If you want to manage a calendar, I'd recommend using Outlook. Outlook is
intended to be Microsoft's calendar and scheduling program. If you want to
write or type on top of a calendar in OneNote, you can take a calendar in
Outlook and print it into OneNote either via the MODI print driver, or the
3rd party add-in found here:

I think Outlook is great at keeping track of things and use the calendar
extensively for scheduling meeting and appointment reminders etc. The thing I
don’t like about it is that I’m still a doodle on the desk blotter calendar
person and never was able to set a view/work area in the Outlook calendar
that gave me the freedom to scribble stuff down, post stuff etc. which I love
about OneNote. I’m still getting used to the whole import a
meeting/appointment feature but would it would be nice to see better link
between Outlook calendar and OneNote maybe a hot key that would inset the
date/time and link it to that day/time on your Outlooks calendar….
