Set defalt tabs for ALL new docs

How do I set the default tab so that all new documents inheret the
desired tab stops?

Note: product is Word 2002 sp3

You can modify the template you are using. However, rather than
setting default tab stops, it makes more sense to set custom ones for
the styles (or possibly for the selected paragraphs) that need them.
