Set default font size in Visio 2003

Visio 2003 seems to want to default to Arial 8pt font for all new shapes
added to a page. Is there any way to force it to always start with a
different font and/or font size?

Unfortunately for shapes, no. The font is decided by the shape creator. If
you consistently use one stencil/solution you might create a custom stencil
(need to alter the shapes individually and save them).
