'Set language' doesn't work in text box

Lucas

Hello,

my word document is set to the English language (via: tools -> set language
-> english U.S.). But if I draw a text box in a drawing canvas and type
something the text is checked with the Dutch spelling checker.
I tried setting the language to default English. Tried selecting everything
(Ctrl +A) and setting the language to English but nothing seems to work.

Does anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,

Note that text box contents are not included when you Select All. For an
existing document, you can select the contents of each text box separately
and then specify the desired language, via the Language dialog box.

For more on language formatting, especially on setting the default language
in Word, see http://homepage.swissonline.ch/cindymeister/LangFmt.htm.

Which version of Word is this?

I take it your Windows default language setting is Dutch?

How about the "Normal" style in this document: what is its language setting?

Sometimes (depending on the version of Word), setting Normal to the desired
language will solve this problem. In other versions (older ones, generally),
the Windows language predominates and it's very difficult to override that. If
this is the case, your best bet is to create a text box, format it with the
desired language, then save that as an AutoText entry. Insert that AutoText
entry whenever you need a new textbox.
