Set Language function fails

HI
I have installed Polish as default language, installed
2003 Language proofing tools, and have language tool bar.

I doc with English and Polish words when I type words in
English and then set as Polish and later make changes to
paragraph the langauge of Polish words slips back to
English.

Can this be prevented? If so how?
