Set Links from one docment to another

Can you build a document toc in one document that has links to the headings
that are in another document? Do all the documents have to be in the same
foldr and have thir names not change once the hyperlink is built? Is there
another way to do this other than with hyperlinks? And what isthe easiest
way to return to the toc document?
