Set Local Site to Local Hard Drive

Brand new to FrontPage (2003). Having trouble publishing a newly-created
index file from local site (on hard drive) to remote site (on web). I select
Publish Site -> FrontPage or SharePoint Services -> OK. Get pop-up error
message "The local and remote webs cannot be the same location. Please enter
a unique location". When I select the "Web Site" tab and "index.html" tab, I
see identical http addresses under "Folder List" - the address of the remote
site. How do I set the local site back to my c: path (or is it another
problem)?

Thank you!!

In FP
- the local site is whatever FP web/site you currently have open
- the remote site is some other location

In both cases they are either
- a disc based web (C:\somepath)
or
- a server based web (http://www.somesite.com/ or http://sitename/)

the "index.html tab" sounds like you are selecting a html page

Thanks, Stephan. So I have an index.html file on my hard drive and want it
to be considered as such when I open it by using open with...FrontPage. But
when I open it, according to the folder view, it's sitting at my remote web
site (http://www.somepath), not the c:\somepath path I expect and want.

You open and publish FP webs/sites
- Not just pages of a web/site
The after the FP web/site is open you open pages in the FP web/site
- index.html is a page not a site

If after you open your web/site you see it is in a server location such as http://www.somesite.com)
But you want to work on your disc based site
- you opened the wrong FP web/site
To open one on your PC as a disc based site use
File Open Site and browse to the folder on your PC containing your FP site
