Hi everybody

How do I define permission on each task on project? I want permission on
each task that its owner only could be delete it and another person only
could be edit it, is it possible?
Thanks a lot for any advise,

Hi Bita,
if you use Project Server and assign team member permission to the user who
should only edit it ( this is adding actual work and amending work) than this
should work for you.
The owner can always delete a task using Project Professional.
I hope this helps

Hi Mark,
Thanks for your attention, but where I add actual work and amending work, I
set allow permission on audit actual on member template, but it didn`t solve
my problem, can you describe me step by step?, I`m so sorry, I`m beginner.
Thanks a lot

Hi Bita,

I know how difficult it can be to understand security with Project Server :)
When you add a new user, by default the user is assigned to a user group
called Project Member. ( you can check this in Project Web Access under Admin
User Group)

If you assign this resource to a task within a Project, the task will be
displayed within the resources Task tab within Project web access. This means
that your resource can now update ( or edit ) the actual work within the
timesheet. Once the resource clicks on the "update all" button, the project
manager can "approve" or "reject" the Actual work entered by the resource.

This is the workflow you can use within Project Server. I hope this explains
it a little better. Please let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks

Hi Marc
I define new template with names member template in PWA, new category for
each group that I need and define some group contains some person, in member
template (that I defined) I set some permission for this template and in
category I set permission from member template and..., My question was about
audit actual permission on member template. Is this require for my idea? with
this permission each person until could delete each task, but msp was
question about delete it, if person click ok or yes, task deleted, I want
each person can not delete the other person task, can not delete, ok?
Thanks for any idea or advise,
Bita

Hi Bita,

sorry for the delay. ( I was on holiday :) )

If you are using MSP it is not possible to set permissions on tasks. A user
using MSP has automatically the right to do what he wants to do within a
Project. ( and a template as such)

An audit trail does not exist in this version of MSP, it is therefore not
possible to trace changes unless you save a copy of your MSP file.
I hope this helps
