Set permissions on individual files?

My server guy knows how to set up profiles for mangagers versus peons, for
example, but we want to restrict managers to write-access only to their own
project files. Any way to do this?

The default permissions in Project Server 2003 allow members of the Project
Managers group to only open their own projects Read/Write, and do not allow
anyone to see and open any other manager's projects. Has your server guy
changed the default permissions in Project Server? If so, how? What
specific changes did he make? Let us know and we will try to help.

Dale, any way you can provide what the defaults are? I've made some changes
and need to get back to original settings???? Thanks

There is no default way to revert back to the original permissions in
Project Server 2003. In our Configuring and Administering book for Project
Server 2003, we list the default permissions for every Group and Category in
Project Server 2003. If you have that book, you can reset all of the
permissions manually. Hope this helps.

(Project Server 2007) Hi Dale.

I also need my Project Managers to edit only their own projects. The problem
is that they belong to "My Organization" category, because they need access
to the Enterprise Resource Data. Is there a specific permission to deny, so
they can ONLY edit their own projects despite of being in "My Organization"
category.

Thanks for yout help.

You are understanding the interaction between the My Organization category
and the Project Managers group, so there is nothing you need to change
there. To restrict your PMs to allow them to open and edit ONLY the
projects they manage, and not projects in which they are team members,
complete the first set of steps in the Resolution section of the following
FAQ:

http://www.projectserverexperts.com...ts for which they are a team member only.aspx

Hope this helps.
