set program access and defaults

I cannot change this category to Microsoft Windows as my
choice. It always checks custom, even though I tried to
select MS because I wanted to speciify Outlook Express as
my e-mail program. Instead I'm stuck on custom and thus
the choice is "use current e-mail". I have been having
trouble with my ISP (Comcast)forwarding e-mails to
Outlook Express. They have been of no help, and I'm
searching on my own for possible fixes. Could this be
related? No matter what, I'd still like to know how to
make a change in Set Program Access and Defaults for the
future. Thank you.
