set stencil edit off

Hi there,

how can I change a stencil to edit off/edit on (programmatically)?
I've found these uicommands: visCmdStenEditOff, visCmdStenEditOn
but when calling them nothing happens...
Is there another way except reopening the stencil as RO/RW to do what I
want? Or can it be done with the UICommands? if yes, how?
