set text box transparency hangs word

I got a weird issue which is causing word to get into an infinite loop of
redrawing textboxes. The root cause appears to be the text box background
transparency because if I specify 0% everything is fine. When I set the
transparency, to say 50%, word sucks up 100% of my CPU as it continuously
redraws the text box. Any ideas? I've tried just about every option I can
think of.

BTW, I'm using MS Office 2003 (as dictated by my employer).

That's a new one on me. I'm taking a wild guess that this may be a printer
driver issue. Try testing using a different printer driver and see if that
changes the symptom. If it doesn't, try starting Word in Safe Mode and
testing. From Start, Run, type in

winword /a

and press enter. Does it still load the CPU?

Hey Terry, Thanks for the reply. The problem has disappeared
today...perhaps because I shutdown my pc each night. I should have known to
try a reboot. Anyway, it was suggested to me that this issue was due to a
conflict with some other application I was running (Lotus Notes perhaps).
I've seen Notes do that with other apps before too, so it would not surprise
me too much. Thank goodness we're moving from Notes to Outlook this year.

Thanks again, James.
