Set transparent color in word 2007 grapic

Hi, I have a graphic with over lapping pictures of my kids and a background.
I want to get rid of the "white space" so the background can show through.
But when I use the "set transparent color" tool it also gets rid of the white
in my sons baseball cap. Is there a work around for this so I can keep the
white in his baseball hat but no where else?

Thanks!

Draw a circle (or freeform draw), color it white, send it behind to the area
where the cap is. You might have to experiment with the shape.
