Set Transparent Color

Hello,

I was wondering if there was a way to use the "Set Transparent Color"
feature in the pictures tool bar without having to convert the pictures to a
gif. format. The pictures loose too much quality after performing this task.
I have tried converting the pictures to gif. before saving the image on my
servers images file and that still doesn't work. I hope that makes sense.

Thank you very much.

You can get better results if you don't make the change in FrontPage.
Change the image in your graphics program (set the transparency or adjust
the opacity etc) and then import it into your web. You'll have better
control over how you want it to look. You can use whatever graphics program
you have such as PhotoShop, Paintshop Pro or you could download one like
IrFanView http://www.irfanview.com/

The only way to get transparency in an image is to convert to .gif or to
..png
..png will retain the colours, but will not display correctly (with
transparency) in Internet Explorer 6 and earlier. .gif will reduce the
colour palette to 256 colours, including transparency.
Do not use FrontPage to convert the images - this will reduce the
quality considerably.

Don't set the transparency in Frontpage, do this in your image editor (save
them as GIF with transparent background) BTW "transparency" is not a colour!

The colour you see is the background showing through the background of the
image.....
