Start menu > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs (or if you have
Vista, Programs and Features).

Click the Office 2003 item in the list and select Repair.

I have this issue, and the setup & repair wants a source disk that I don't
have. is there anything I can do?

it's only my shortcuts to Word and other office programs which don't work;
if I double-click a .doc file, it's ok, and it opens Word.

thanks.

It's probably easiest to delete the existing shortcuts and recreate them. Go
to the Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office <version> folder, right-click
each of the program files, and choose Send To > Desktop (As Shortcut).

Usually the reason a repair wants the source disk is that the original
installation wasn't cached (or it was cached but the cache was later
deleted). If you need to replace a missing disk, see
