Set-up assistant not available

Office 2004 student teacher version

Put the disc in and I get the set-up assistant greyed out the with
o with slash international symbol. Ejected twice and same thing happens.
I have the Office 2004 file icon, should I just move that over to the
desktop? If so, what do I to get to it set-up, especially since I don't
really want to mess with Entourage and the MS version of Instant
Messenger if I can (easily) get around.
BTW: It worked perfectly for my daughters MacBook earlier this
week.
Suggestions? Comments?
