Outlook 2003 with an Exchange server accoun t. I want to set up an offline
folder. Help says "on File menu, click on 'Work Offline'". There is no such
option on my File menu in Outlook! I did this OK with previous version of
Outlook but this is driving me crazy!

Are you using friendly menus? If so, it could be that the Work Offline item
isn't shown since you;ve never used it before. Is there a small double
down-arrow at the bottom of the File menu? If so, click it.

Thank you but the File menu is fully extended - nothing shows about 'Work
Offline'. Frustrating!

List the items you see in the File menu. Mine, for example, shows

New
Open
Close All Items
Save As
Save Attachments
Folder
Data File Management
Import and Export
Archive
Page Setup
Backup
Print Preview
Print
Cache Exchange Mode
Work Offline
Exit

That's from an add-in I have called PFBACKUP and isn't needed.
Cache Exchange Mode

If you're not using cached Exchange mode, you won't have this either.
Work Offline

Well. I'm at a loss. I don't know why you'd be missing this.

There are some issues with my PC. I only moved from Office XP to 2003
recently. As a health informatics and IT consultant my PC is used with
various networks as I go to different clients. It is now 18 months since I
had it - perhaps it's time for a ground up re-build!

Thank you for your time and trouble.

Regards.

Ok....I solved it! I think the problem is that the Work Offline option is not
available until you have checked the 'Use Cached Exchange Mode' box. To do
this right click over your Mailbox - <username>, then 'Advanced' and look on
the Advanced tab. Hope this helps someone else searching this forum. Sorry to
the MVP's for the hasty post previously!

Regards,

No probs Slam. I am new to the whole Outlook platform and have had a lot of
'fun' setting up our staff to work offline and be able to sync handhelds and
palms etc. confidently. This little thing has solved all my problems.
