set up start home page fails

Hi all,

I have a web site that has as a home page an index.htm
file. However, when I try to set up another page as the home page (i.e. in
frontpage folder view./right click/set as home page), it keeps index.htm.
How do I make sure that
the new page is indeed the defaulted start page?. If I remove the index.htm
file, and send the new home page,
the server does not display anything.

Carlos,

Depending on the host and how the server is setup, your home page will
always be index.htm, index.html, default.asp, etc..

If you have a page that you want to be the "Home" page, name it .index.htm

If you ever create another page (page1.htm, page2.htm, etc..) and decide you
want to make that your home, just right click the file and rename it to
index.htm. This will overwrite your current home page.

NOTE: Once you overwrite a file it is not recoverable, unless you have it
backed up, so use with caution!!!!!
