Setting alternate delete key

Mac keyboards have a delete key that operates like a MS 'backspace' key. Pages has a function Control-Left Click that operates like a MS 'delete' key.
How do I set a similar function in Word for Mac?

Uh, control-left click in Pages and any Mac app should be acting like a
right-click. What you say doesn't make sense.

However, on a laptop, holding down the fn (function) key while hitting
delete might get you what you want--that's forward delete, I think.

If that isn't it, please explain how a MS delete key operates, and what
you want to be able to do, and what kind of keyboard you have.

Function + Delete

As above on a Mac laptop, and on full-sized keyboards the other, Foward
Delete key is in the "home" group of keys -- to the right of the backslash
key.
