setting autoshape defaults (lines, shapes)

i am looking to do the following:
1. set the default line color to dark blue
2. set the default autoshape line color to white

is this possible?

i have access to a lot of templates (which i did not create) - i did find
one that has their auto shapes programmed w/ no lines/borders, and their line
colors are black. [as a side note, i tried messing w/ the defaults and i cant
alter/change the defaults!]

also: is there a difference between right-clicking an object and setting the
default vs. double clicking the object and clicking the checkbox @ the bottom
that says "Default for new objects"?

Set the defaults for autoshapes as you say by right clicking etc and then
save as a design template named "blank"

no - even in theory this solution would not work. whatever order you do these
steps in, they contradict and overwrite each other:
1. set the default line color to dark blue
2. set the default autoshape line color to white

any other ideas?

i know this - i am working in a reg ppt file, not a pot file (i save
templates as read-only). please note:
whatever order you do these steps in, they contradict and overwrite each
other:
1. set the default line color to dark blue
2. set the default autoshape line color to white
how can i set these defaults w/o having them contradict each other?

You'd need to open the template file (*.POT) in PowerPoint and change the
defaults there. If there are no slides in the template, do the work on the
slide master; you might have to draw e.g. a rectangle, format it to suit, then
rightclick, choose Set Autoshape Defaults, and then delete it. Finally save as
a template again.
