setting Criteria in Query form user selection in combo box

i would like to set the query criteria based on user input
from a combo box's on a form. the query criteria
would "cascade", the next criteria being based on the
value of the previous selection.

or, alternately, there would be a number of combo boxs and
the user would choose any criteria from any box and it
would be used by the underlying query.
