setting defaults

Hello,
In Word 2004, when you set up Preferences, they became the default (e.g., removing some of the autocorrect features, choosing your toolbar items, choosing the default font for Normal). Now, every time I open a document for the first time or start a new one, it goes back to the defaults that the program set up. It's making me a little nuts! Any advice?

Try changing the "Normal" template, it should be located in the Microsoft User Data folder in your Documents folder. Make changes to your preferences and save the template, your defaults should revert to those changes.

You might also try repairing permissions (use the app Disk Utility).

What OS? Is this just a home setup, or are you on a corporate network
or anything?
