Hi JulieD,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

Not that I know of. The best way is to create a template and always create
new projects via the template - see FAQ Item: 8. New Project Template.
FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at
this web address: http://www.mvps.org/project/

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)

hi Mike

thanks - that's what i sort of thought but decided that i would double check
:)

while we're on the subject ... other than a auto_open macro is there any way
of getting a project file to keep the same formatting - (date & time, inital
view etc) when emailled to another person.

Cheers

You mean that when they open the file in their setup of Project? I don't
think so - Project has all these different ways of personalizing your own
projects that it cannot ignore these and go for the pre-prepared project's
settings. I think some macro will need to be run to set all this up, as you
feared.

Hi Julie,

Funny version of Project you seem to have - I have always known that the
setting of Date Format under Tools, Options, View spreads through the whole
computer (even when you have multiple Global.mpt files) so the answer to
your question is: to achieve that, do nothing. Project does it all for you.

Hi Jan

it was on three 2002 machines that we were playing with - if a project had
been created with date & time displayed & then put on a computer without it
set under tools / options to display date & time then it didn't display date
& time ...
then the next new project file we opened on that machine also didn't display
date & time even if we had changed it for this previous project (are you now
totally confused?!?)

anyway, we've now put an auto_open macro on the project files & that seemed
to solve our probs.

thanks
julieD
