Setting initial value of custom date fields to be blank

I have a couple custom date fields that have an initial value of None. I'd
like to have those fields be blank until a value is entered in them. I've
tried several things (including changing the Value of the field, setting the
initial value to Null, or setting it to #1/1/4501#--which I know is the date
value of None), and some of them delete the "None" in form design view, but
it always reappears when I run the form. Is it possible to get rid of or
hide the word None?

I think you have to live with "None".
