Setting initial value of fields

3 questions about setting initial value of fields:

1. Is there a way to have a user-defined integer field not show "0" when the
form is run but before any data has been entered? I can't figure out how to
do it with Basic Properties->Initial Value or Advanced Properties->Value. I
have the same question with Date and Currency fields, how to have them blank
until filled in.

2. Is there a way to put text in a text box, say "Enter District Here," that
disappears when you click in the text box to type (but where that "Enter
district here" doesn't get saved as the value of the field bound to that
control if the form is saved without the user entering a value)?

3. Somehow, in customizing a contact form, I did something that put a
shortcut to 's Birthday and 's Anniversary (with a calendar icon) in the
Body (Comments) box every time I run the form, and I can't for the life of
me figure out how to get rid of it! Any ideas?

1) I've seen people put Null as the initial value, which seems to work, at least some of the time. I wouldn't expect it to work consistently, though.

2) No.

3) Run the form, remove the extraneous material, then publish or save the form template.

Unfortunately, this didn't work when I saved it as a template. Any reason to
think that it is more likely to work if I publish it? Or any other ideas?

Can you explain what you mean by "didn't work"? Were you able to delete the link before you saved? Do you by any chance have a default value set for the birthday or anniversary?

You smart woman! I was able to delete the link but it kept reappearing after
I saved and reopened. But somehow there was a value set for the birthday and
anniversary, and deleting those values made the phantom shortcuts go away.
