Setting languege options

I have set my language options to "English (UK)" in outlook and in word.
When I'm righting a email it has English UK at the bottom and it is using
the auto correct English dictionary. But when outlook checks spelling before
sending "english (US)" is the defult languege.

I'm using office 2002(XP) and have got word as my email editor

Any help would be gratefully received
