Setting mail to read using the Rules Wizard

Eric

I want to be able to move all sent emails to another folder AND then have
this email set to read. I noticed that when it moves the mail is
automatically set to unread, and I want it set to read.

I can currently get the email to move to another folder but unable to set it
read as I cannot find the condition for this.

Also, how do I configure Outlook options or set up a rule that can move or
delete the original email from Inbox when I subsequently reply/forward?

Thanks

I've been using rules for a long time that move items out of the Inbox
and into another folder AND also mark them as read, like suspect mails
that I move into the Junk folder or undesirable mails that go into the
Trash folder.

So the "mark it as read" clause isn't available when you define or edit
rules?

Don't think you can in the rules (I'm still using OL2002; you never
mentioned WHICH version that you use). When defining a send rule, there
are no delete clauses.

I'm using OL2003 XP.

I've checked all the conditions and the values you can have, and I cannot
see "mark as read" anywhere. Which condition did u find it in OL2002?

Is there an alternative way to move or delete the original email from Inbox
when I subsequently reply/forward?

An example rule that I have:

Apply this rule after the message arrives
with <string> in the message header
assign it to the <string> category
and move it to the Junk folder
and mark it as read
and stop processing more rules

However, upon rereading your post, I see what you want is a "Apply this
rule after sending the message" rule. The set of clauses available for
inbound and outbound mails are not the same. The outbound rules do not
provide the "mark as read" clause. But then e-mails that you send
should already be marked as read (because you composed them). In fact,
every copy of a sent mail in the Sent Items folder is always marked as
read already when the copy gets moved into there from the Outbox. So
all you need is the move the mail (from Sent Items) to whatever folder
you want and will already be marked as read.

Maybe. There are authors that write add-ons to Outlook. Don't know of
one that does what you want but then I'm not big into Outlook add-ons,
either. Maybe you should ping Sue Mosher as she is an Outlook MVP. You
can also hunt around the slipstick.com web site for Outlook utilities.
